By George, I think he's got it!

My sweet #2 read a story to ME at bedtime tonight. This was the first time he read the whole little book in one sitting. And he did it beautifully. There are some issues with b,p, and d, but I know that will improve with time. We'll keep practicing with this level of Bob and other phonics readers for a couple of weeks, and then it will be time to move on in phonics. But since he's accomplished all of the phonics for MFW Kindergarten, we'll have to get our next thing ordered so it can get here.

After I'd read It's really hard being a bunny, he read Hot Pot to me, and I read Jan Brett's Annie and the Wild Animals to him (that promoted a discussion of the behavior of pregnant mommies, by the way). THEN, he said, "Mommy, will you leave my light on so I can read to myself, please?"

Oh my. A child after my own heart. I've read myself to sleep almost every night since I learned to read, and now he wants to read himself to sleep, too. It just tickles me. :)

I am so going to miss homeschooling Reia for that very reason! Anyhoo, thanks for the invite to the Beth Moore study. I can't for two reasons: I live in Edmond and I am working now so Tuesdays I am at work.

Beth is doing a Get Out of that Pit speaking engagement and I am planning on seeing the simulcast here at a church in Edmond. If I'm not pumped up after seeing her...well, I will be. That's all.

Hi, I'm visiting from Moms of Grace. I too homeschool our boys. Some of our most precious time is the boys reading to me and vice versa. Isn't it a goose-bumpy moment when they "get it"?
